Pedro Alvarez homered and drove in two runs for the Pirates, who won three of four in the series.
Evan Meek (4-2) picked up the win after hurling a perfect seventh inning in relief. Octavio Dotel, who picked up his 19th save, locked down all three Pittsburgh wins in this battle of Pennsylvania clubs.
Raul Ibanez collected two hits and drove in a run, while Dane Sardinha homered among his pair of hits for the Phillies, who stumbled to their fifth loss in seven.
Jose Contreras (3-3) took the loss and was charged with a blown save after yielding two hits and three runs while retiring just one batter.
The Pirates forged ahead with a six-run seventh.
Alvarez got the rally going with a leadoff homer, Ryan Doumit followed with a single and Ryan Church doubled. After Ronny Cedeno struck out, Contreras came in for starter Joe Blanton. Young greeted the reliever with a pinch-hit, two-run double and Jose Tabata added a game-tying RBI single.
Later in the inning, with runners on second and third, Mike Zagurski was summoned and allowed a two-run single from Jones to make it 8-5 for the Bucs.
Joel Hanrahan turned in a scoreless eighth and Dotel had an easy time in the ninth to lock up the win.
Pittsburgh picked up two runs in the first on a Jones groundout and RBI single by Alvarez.
Philly responded with a single run in the second as Ben Francisco doubled, moved up on a groundout and scored on a Wilson Valdez grounder.
In the third, the Phils put up three as Blanton singled, Shane Victorino doubled with one out and Ibanez singled in the starter. Ryan Howard followed with a sac fly then Greg Dobbs hit a two-out, run-scoring double.
Sardinha's leadoff homer in the seventh put the visitors up 5-2 and signaled starter Jeff Karstens' exit. Evan Meek shut the door for the remainder of the frame.
Game Notes
Pittsburgh won four of six games in the season series...The Phillies had won six straight games on the 4th of July dating back to a defeat to Florida at Veterans Stadium in 2003...Blanton allowed six hits and five runs with seven strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings...Karstens was dented for nine hits and five runs with two srikeouts in six-plus frames...Pittsburgh travels to Houston on Tuesday and Philadelphia hosts Atlanta beginning Monday.
